Akwasi Poku is an action comedy Writer-Director based in South London. His first short film, LOCK OFF supported by WE ARE PARABLE, had its theatrical release at 70 Odeon Cinemas in 2021. It has gone on to play at film festivals across the globe including Aesthetica Film Festival, Soul Fest & was nominated for best short film at the 30th Pan African Film Festival (US).

Akwasi has also worked as an award winning creative at agencies including Wieden + Kennedy & most recently TBWA/ Media Arts Lab working on Apple. He recently shot the Culture music video for artists BOJ x ENNY & continues with his directional theme of making films that amuse viewers within a culturally relevant framework.

Akwasi has recently completed the Certificate in Filmmaking course at NFTS supported by British Film Institute Scholarship and has recently worked as a 2nd Unit Director on The Kitchen written by Daniel Kaluuya starring Kane Robinson (Netflix/ Film 4 dir Kibwe Tavares) & also 2nd Unit Director on Black Ops (BBC Studios / BBC Comedy dir Ben Gregor)
