British Romanian filmmaker Rachel Close goes to Romania to help a stranger search for her birth mother. Forced to confront truths about her own adoption, can Rachel take this chance to claim and transform her own story?

While making a film about Mihaela, a young woman returning to Romania for the first time to track down her birth mother, the director Rachel’s own past is brought to the surface.

Revelations born out of the search require both of them to abandon their existing narratives. While Mihaela uncovers the details of her family history, Rachel takes solace in cinema; stitching together verite, therapy and dream sequences, crafting a cathartic and cinematic memoir.
